My Brand - Initial Ideas

Image
To what industry segment does your brand belong (Perfume, Beauty, Apparel, Beverage, Electronics, Housewares, Sports/Outdoors, Luggage/Travel)? I want my brand to belong to the beverage industry segment. What is the main product or service of your brand? The main product of my brand will be a lemonade drink. What would be the motivation of your brand (does it respond to a need or desire)? The motivation of my brand is to quench the thirst of my customers. What are three perceptions of your brand. Use emotional adjectives. Soothed, Joyful, and Crave. What are three values of your brand? Three values of my brand are natural, reasonable price, and quality. What is the look/aesthetic of your brand? The look/aesthetic of my brand is similar to Flat Style Graphic Design. Put yourself in the role of the client talking to an agency. What main message would you want them to understand about your brand (similar to “love people, love beer”)? The main message I would want a potential agency to und...

Retouching Techniques Reflection

Image
Here is my  Retouching Techniques Reflection. This is my image before spot healing: This is the same image after using spot healing: I chose this image because most of the snow was around the dogs face, which made it easier for me to remove the snow with the spot healing tool. The only part that I struggled with here is near the little collar because I found it difficult to tell if the dog had a patch of white fur or if it was snow. I still used the spot healing tool around that area. I think the dog had some white patches of fur, which is really cool since he is mostly brown.  This is my image before using clone stamping:                                             This is the same image after clone stamping:  I saw you stamp the eye to show me why the clone stamping tool wasn't working for me originally. So, I decided to stamp the eyes on the circle parts ...

Non-Destructive Image Adjustments

Image
This is my Non-Destructive Image Adjustments Blog. This is Color Fill: I chose the blue fill color and I lowered the opacity so the original photo will have a nice blue background.  This is Gradient Fill: I chose the white, which allowed the image to have a nice foggy background, which puts emphasis on the cat and child. This is Brightness/Contrast: I made the image slightly brighter, which makes it more appealing to the viewer. This is Levels: I used the levels adjustment layer and changed the output levels to 5-255, which made the image significantly brighter.   This is Curves: I moved my cursor to almost the middle, which made the background slightly darker.  This is Exposure: I moved the exposure to +0.77, offset to -0.0518, and gamma correction to 0.85, which made the image become more exposed. This is Vibrance: I made the image's vibrance go to +65 and saturation to +8, which made the image pop. This is Hue/Saturation: I maxed out the density and fea...

Robot Final

Image
This is my Robot Final Blogger.  Here is the image of my robot draft: Most of the process of creating this robot wasn't too difficult. I just had to find images online and put them together to make a cool robot. The most difficult part in the creation of this robot was definitely the display on the screen. I had to look for an image of a display on a flat screen tv,  replace the person with my robot, shrink it and make it fit on screen on the old tv. Despite this, it was fun to do this part of the robot project.  This is the image of my robot final:  This part of the project was definitely more difficult compared to creating the draft. I originally wanted to put this root in an underwater cave, but I realized that a laboratory is also a perfectly good setting for my robot. The most difficult part of the project by far was creating a shadow for the robot. The method you showed was in class to create a shadow works, but it is tedious way to do it.  Instead, ...

Image File Formats Blog

This is my image file formats blog.  Raster (bitmap) jpg, png, gif, bmp, psd, tiff, heic, psb, camera raw JPG (JPEG): JPG (or JPEG) stands for J oint Photographic Experts Group. This  image format known for compressing file size with lossy compression, making it ideal for web images and photos. It loses some quality with each save. PNG: PNG stands for Portable Network Graphics. It is a lossless format that supports transparency. It’s widely used for images with sharp edges or where a transparent background is needed, like logos and icons. GIF: GIF stands for Graphics Interchange Format. It is an older format that supports animations and transparency but is limited to 256 colors. It’s often used for simple animations and low-color graphics. BMP: BMP stands for Bitmap. Bitmap is an uncompressed image format, typically large in size, and widely supported but not efficient for web use due to its lack of compression. PSD: PSD stands for Photoshop Document. It pr...

Image Resolution Blog

This is my image resolution blogger.  1. What is the difference between 300ppi and 72ppi? The difference between 300ppi and 72ppi is that both of these have different purposes. 300ppi is the standard for print images; this would allow it to print high quality images; making sure the image is crisp. The reason why 300ppi is the standard for print is because the human eye struggles to see the details when the ppi is over 300. Having the ppi at 300 for print allows for seamless printing for the person. 72 ppi is the standard for web images. This is because when the web image is at 72 ppi, it loads faster. This allows for a seamless experience for the person. I got this from just a google search. Here is the link:  https://www.google.com/search?q=What+is+the+difference+between+300ppi+and+72ppi%3F&rlz=1C5GCEM_enUS1126US1126&oq=What+is+the+difference+between+300ppi+and+72ppi%3F&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUqBggAEEUYOzIGCAAQRRg7MggIARAAGBYYHjIKCAIQABgKGBYYHjINCAMQABiGAxiABBiK...

Museum of Illustration Blogger

Image
The trip to the Museum of Illustration was an interesting trip to say the least. I love how close it was to our school; only one stop away in both the E and 6 train. When we arrived at the Museum of Illustration, I expected it to be slightly bigger. Despite this, I enjoyed the cozy vibe it gave off.  I enjoyed the workshop with David Curtis. I liked all the book covers on all the tables and I especially loved the work he did for IT; it was spectacular. Him getting married at the same time made it even better. I still believe that he could have been more concise with showing off his work.  I love that David Curtis gave us time to draw after he finished his presentation. I struggled to think about what I wanted to draw and I didn't come up with something until there was only 15 minutes. This led me to not make that much progress in my own drawing. I got inspiration from Erin Hunter's "Warriors" or also known as "Warrior Cats." I tried to draw one of her book ...

Picasso Painting in PS

Image
I believe that this was one of the most frustrating projects that I have ever done for this class, which is concerning because I just started my Photoshop journey. I am able to do my project at home on my personal computer and my work in class. However, when I try to save my work either on the cloud or as a regular PSD file at home or in class, I can't find it. I have even tried saving it on Google Drive in the folder that I shared with you. I search everywhere I think the file may be at, and it's never there. This is just extremely infuriating because this is an easy thing to do. I don't know if when I upload something it is just glitching. There were some positive aspects to this project despite all these things that happened in the process of doing my work. After some time, I kind of found painting this therapeutic; I really enjoyed the yellow parts of the project because of how little of the color there was compared to the rest of the other colors. Additionally, it requ...

Photoshop Blend Modes

Image
This is the Photoshop Blend Modes project that I did. This was a relatively easy project. The only difficult parts of this project were trying to fit 25 faces of me on the screen. However, after some trial and error and cropping some parts of the image, I managed to fit all 25 little images of me on the screen. I like these types of introductory projects because they help you really ease into a new application; in this case, Photoshop. I enjoyed this project and would definitely do it again if I had to.  Some of the many blend modes that I used were darken, multiply, overlay, hard/soft light, and many others. Darken compares the colors of the blending layer and the base layers and keeps the darker colors. Multiply darkens the layer based on the colors of the layers below it. Overlay uses screen at half strength on colors brighter than 50% gray, and multiply at half strength on colors darker than 50% gray. Hard light combines multiply and screen to create a contrasted effect....

Portrait in Type Blogger

Image
This is the Portrait in Type that I created. I have mixed feelings about this project. I enjoyed this project because I got to use one of my favorite artists, Kanye West, for this assignment. However, I don't like that I lost my original Kanye West portrait in type and had to start over from scratch. Additionally, my computer was not cooperating when doing this project. It would freeze constantly, and also just not do what I want it to do. For this project, I used a variety of letters, some of which include: L,O,C, and others. I think despite all of these problems that came with doing this project, it came out looking decent for how long it took me. I would definitely do this project again if I had to.

Self-portrait in Color Blogger

Image
This is the self portrait in color. I decided to make a piranha plant from Super Mario. The image below this was my inspiration for my work: I didn't want to just copy it completely. So, I decided to put my actual portrait instead of the piranha at the top and bottom right where the pipes are. I decided that as a final touch I would also put a question block from Super Mario. I thought it was a nice touch since there was a bunch of space above the three pipes with my portrait.  After the review, I made some changes to the self-portrait and now it looks like this:  I decided to make the background sky blue because to me it fits with the overall theme of the portrait in color. I added two bricks on the side of the question block because in the Super Mario games you can find two bricks and a question block in the middle in that order. I added coins because they can be found in that order as well. Finally, I added a star on the top of the middle pipe because the star is the best i...

Self-Portrait Grayscale Blogger

Image
This is my self portrait in grayscale. This project was one of the most frustrating projects in the entirety of my time being in Graphic Design. I lost my file twice because it somehow didn't save, then, when I had it, I lost most of my work. I believe that I could have done better work than what I did. I almost mixed up all of my layers as well. What also made me take so much longer than it should have was the fact that I was too zoomed in while doing this project. I wanted precision at the start. However, by the end, precision was the least of my concerns, my objective was to finish it because it's been too long. Despite all of this, I enjoyed doing this project and would consider doing this again when I am more experienced with adobe illustrator and photoshop.

Color Theory Applied

Image
These are my digital designs with the digital color pallets from Adobe color. For this part of the project, I used analogous colors to make this. This mostly comes from the color green. For this part of the project, I used monochromatic colors. I decided to use shades of blue in order to make this project.  For this part of the project, I used complimentary colors to make this. It involves mostly red and green and also brown. This was unintentional, but, It has a Christmas theme to it, which is nice.  For the final part of the project, I made my own choice from Adobe Color. I decided to use the shades option and use a shade of blue for the entire project.

Repetition Online Recreation Blog

Image
This is the online recreation of the Exploring Repetition project that I made one year ago.  For this part of my project, I decided to use four shapes. I used a circle, a triangle, a square, and a rectangle. This online recreation was most definitely more successful because I messed up the rectangle last year and had to combine it with the square, which i did not like. Now, on Illustrator, I was able to be more precise than when I drew it last year on paper.  For this part of the project, I decided to repeat the circles but changing the color as well. This was slightly harder compared to drawing it last year because I had to figure out how to create a semicircle on Illustrator. For this part of the project, I used one black circle thats at the top, 2 black semicircles under it, and 3 grey circles on the bottom. For this part of the project, I had four rows of 6 triangles (24 in total) and changed the direction of them. Most stayed the same, however, some are upside down ...

Analog and Digital Color Blog

What are pixels?: Pixels are the small squares that make up your screen. How is color viewed in computer monitors?: The way how color is viewed on computer monitors is through red, blue, and green lights (rgb.) What is the additive color space?: The additive color space is a system where different amounts of red, blue, and green lights are mixed in order to create a color. 6 Column Layout on 2 page spread

Image
This project was definitely one of the more difficult projects for me. Despite this, I really enjoyed the ability to use the images that I wanted. I decided to keep a recurring theme with all my images which was memes. Some are older than others and all involve an animal. The animals here are dogs, cats and one pig. Something that I could have done better in this project is choose better images. The big smiling cat at the top right is cut off because that is the only image I could find that wasn't blocked by something or had a background. I could have made the decision to keep the images only dogs and cats but I chose the pig because it stands out compared to the others. I also chose him because his name is John. John Pork. I really enjoyed this project and the help that you gave me with it and most definitely would do it again.

Do Now Blog

This information is important for designers because designers can use color to evoke certain emotions, attract attention, or even create an identity. An example of using color to evoke emotions is the color yellow . The color yellow is a warm color that is associated with optimism and fun.  An example of how color can be used to attract attention is by putting a different color in a design that is mostly one color. Adding a different color will make the viewer focus on it.  An example of how color can be be used to create an identity is through companies such as Apple or Nike. The logos of both of these companies use the color black. So, when you see the color black, you associate it with these companies. Therefore, creating a brand identity.
