Image Resolution Blog

This is my image resolution blogger.

1. What is the difference between 300ppi and 72ppi?

The difference between 300ppi and 72ppi is that both of these have different purposes. 300ppi is the standard for print images; this would allow it to print high quality images; making sure the image is crisp. The reason why 300ppi is the standard for print is because the human eye struggles to see the details when the ppi is over 300. Having the ppi at 300 for print allows for seamless printing for the person. 72 ppi is the standard for web images. This is because when the web image is at 72 ppi, it loads faster. This allows for a seamless experience for the person. I got this from just a google search. Here is the link:

2. Why is that important for the graphic designer doing print projects?

This is important for the graphic designer doing print projects because it allows for the designer to create their best work possible. Ensuring that you have a grasp on the fundamentals for print (image resolution, color management, file formats, etc) makes sure that the designer does not make any costly mistakes that can prevent the design's effective and accurate translation to print. Having it at 300 ppi follows the industry standard and the human perception capacity. I got this from just a google search. Here is the link:

3. Why is that important for the web designer doing websites?

This is important for the web designer doing websites because it allows for a seamless experience. 72ppi is the standard for web images because it makes sure that images are optimized for loading times while maintaining good clarity on most screens. This resolution strikes a balance between image quality and file size, ensuring that web pages load quickly without sacrificing visual appeal. Using 72ppi as a baseline ensures compatibility across a wide range of devices and screens, making it easier to create websites that perform well and look good on various platforms. I got this from a google search. Here is the link:

4. Add new information not included in the lecture.

Ppi is not necessarily relevant unless it is for print. Kevin Gourley, a professional photographer states, "The only time the term “PPI” is relevant is when you choose to print a photograph.  The number of Pixels Per Inch determines how large or small to print the photograph.  The PPI specifies how many pixels are to be printed in each inch. For the sake of simplicity, let’s say we had a sensor that created images that are 1000 pixels wide.  If you printed those images at 100 PPI, the print would be 10 inches wide (100 pixels in every inch, over the span of 10 inches = 1000 pixels).  If you printed that 1000 pixel wide image at 1000 PPI, then it would only print 1 inch wide." Gourley addresses a common misconception that  beginners who are trying to learn about resolution would be confused about. I got this from Kevin Gourley's blog. Here is the link:
